Energy

Energy powers modern civilization. It supports transportation, communication, healthcare, industry, agriculture, education, and countless aspects of daily life. The Human Constitution explores humanity's responsibility to develop and use energy in ways that support both human flourishing and the long-term health of the living world. Through Istima, energy invites humanity to reflect on how we exercise power at a planetary scale. Our world contains extraordinary sources of energy, and human ingenuity continues to expand our ability to access and utilize them. The challenge is not simply whether we can generate enough energy, but how we harvest, distribute, and use it wisely. Throughout history, many forms of energy development have brought both tremendous benefits and unintended consequences. As our knowledge, technology, and capabilities continue to grow, humanity is invited to mature in its stewardship of energy. The opportunity is not only to power civilization, but to develop energy systems that reflect greater wisdom, responsibility, collaboration, innovation, and dignity. A thriving future depends not only on the energy we create, but on the maturity with which we choose to use it.
