Governments and corporations are among the most influential institutions in modern society. Governments help establish laws, protections, infrastructure, and public services, while corporations create products, services, innovation, employment, and economic activity. As some corporations have grown larger and more influential than many nations, new questions emerge regarding accountability, transparency, influence, responsibility, and the balance of power. The Human Constitution explores the rights and responsibilities that accompany power at every level and recognizes that both governments and corporations can contribute positively or negatively to human flourishing. Through Istima, humanity is learning how these institutions can work together more effectively in an increasingly interconnected world. The goal is not dominance by one over the other, but mature collaboration that supports individual well-being, thriving communities, healthy economies, future generations, animals, ecosystems, and planetary boundaries. In a GloCal world, one of humanity's great learning opportunities is developing forms of cooperation that align innovation, governance, responsibility, and dignity for the benefit of life as a whole.
