Human worth is the recognition that every human being has value simply because they are human. It is not determined by intelligence, wealth, education, status, productivity, nationality, religion, age, gender, ability, achievement, or circumstance. Human worth exists before success and remains after failure. The Human Constitution explores human worth as one of the foundations of dignity, rights, responsibilities, and healthy societies. When we recognize the worth of every person, we create conditions for greater compassion, cooperation, justice, and maturity. Through Istima, we are often invited to look beyond labels, roles, achievements, and differences and recognize the humanity we share. Human worth is not something we create. It is something we learn to recognize.
