Physical Self-Defense

Physical self-defense relates to the protection of oneself and others from physical harm. The Human Constitution recognizes every person's right to safety, bodily integrity, and protection. It also explores the responsibility that accompanies physical power and the importance of using force proportionately, thoughtfully, and only when necessary. Through Istima, physical self-defense invites reflection on boundaries, courage, restraint, responsibility, and the protection of human dignity, even in situations of conflict or threat.
