What does belonging to a society ask of me?

Citizenship has a legal meaning, while contributing to shared life also involves people who are not citizens. We can participate through work, care, public discussion, local cooperation and questioning decisions that affect others. Responsibility includes considering how our choices shape the society we share and reflecting on what needs to improve. Legal rights and duties differ by status, while human worth remains equal. Making contribution possible involves attention to capacity, access and the risks people may face.
