Principle 3 Thought

How can I think freely and remain open to correction?

Right — To think independently and freely.

Responsibility — To examine our thinking with curiosity, distinguish fact from interpretation, and remain open to broader perspectives.

In practice: We can distinguish what we observed, what evidence supports, what we interpret and what we value. Curiosity helps us notice assumptions, including our own. We may revise a view without surrendering our judgment, or hold a well-supported view while remaining open to correction. Reflection also includes knowing when we have enough understanding to act.

For example, an unanswered message is an observation. Concluding that the person does not care is an interpretation that may need checking.

A question to sit with (optional): What evidence would make me reconsider this particular belief?
