Resilience
Am I adapting to difficulty, or being asked to tolerate avoidable harm?
Sometimes being called resilient feels encouraging. Sometimes it feels like being asked to keep carrying too much. Your experience of the strain deserves attention, including when you need rest, help or something to change.
Resilience can involve adjusting and finding room to act with support. Institutions still need to address damaging conditions. A useful conversation asks both what the person needs and who can change the source of the strain. Endurance, refusal, shared action and a pause can each be meaningful responses in different circumstances. Having reached a limit is something to take seriously, rather than a reason for shame.
A question to sit with (optional): What am I finding hard to carry, and what support or change would make a difference?
