Sleep

What makes rest possible in my life?

When you are exhausted, another instruction to manage yourself better may feel like one more demand. Your need for rest deserves to be taken seriously.

Rest can be difficult when work, caregiving, housing or worry leaves little room for it. We can distinguish habits we can change from demands that need to be renegotiated or shared. An employer's scheduling decisions and a household's distribution of care also matter. Difficulty sleeping should not be treated as a failure of character.

A question to sit with (optional): Which demand on my time could be discussed, shared or reduced to make room for rest?
