Whistleblowing

What should I consider when I notice possible wrongdoing?

Raising a concern can involve uncertainty and personal risk. The framework distinguishes evidence from suspicion, the seriousness of possible harm and who has a duty to respond. Institutions should provide credible reporting routes and fair processes. No one should be casually urged to sacrifice their safety or livelihood. Legal protections, confidentiality and reporting requirements need checking for the actual situation.

A person raising a concern may also need a confidential place to speak about fear or isolation. Taking them seriously includes attention to both the evidence and the conditions under which they can safely be heard.

A question to sit with (optional): What do I know directly, who can assess it safely, and what support do I need before acting?
