Belonging

Belonging is the experience of feeling accepted, valued, and connected to others. It is a fundamental human need that influences well-being, identity, relationships, and participation in society. The Human Constitution explores every person's right to dignity and inclusion while recognizing our responsibility to help create communities where people can contribute and thrive. Through Istima, many people experience periods of loneliness, exclusion, uncertainty, or transition before discovering deeper forms of belonging. Belonging reminds us that while each of us is unique, none of us develops entirely alone.
