Fear
How can I take my fear seriously and understand what I need?
Fear can be hard to put into words, particularly when we worry that someone will dismiss it. We deserve to be heard without being shamed for feeling afraid. A listener can ask what feels threatening and what would help us feel supported, rather than deciding too quickly what the fear means.
Protection, information or practical help may be needed. When there is room, we can explore what we know about a present threat, an uncertain possibility or an earlier experience shaping our response. Courage can involve leaving, pausing or asking for help. We do not need to endure danger to prove strength.
A question to sit with (optional): What feels frightening, what protection might be needed, and who could listen without rushing me?
