Individual Istima

How can I recognise and carry forward what I am learning?

Individual Istima concerns our personal learning, growth and maturity through experience. We may be growing before we have words for it. To mature, we need to reflect: what happened, what did I bring to it, and what do I see now? Feedback can help us notice what our own account misses. Reflection includes questioning what we think we have learned and considering what to carry forward, change or repair. Growing understanding becomes meaningful in how we live and take responsibility, while leaving room for questions that remain unfinished.

A conversation with someone who can listen may help us find words for what is unfolding. We can leave a question open and return to it when there is more room.

A question to sit with (optional): What do I recognise now, and is there something to continue, change, repair or explore further?
