What are we agreeing to when we build a marriage?

Marriage can hold personal meaning, shared commitments and legal consequences. Assumptions about care, money, intimacy, work and family may differ even when affection is strong. People can make those expectations discussable and revisit them as circumstances change. Commitment deserves seriousness, while safety, consent and each person's agency remain relevant. Local legal obligations require separate clarification.

A conversation about a shared life needs room for how each person feels within it. Listening to loneliness, disappointment or affection matters alongside making workable agreements.
