Maturity

What does maturity look like while we are still learning?

Within The Human Constitution, maturity concerns how we bring learning and reflection into judgment, relationships and responsibility. Experience alone does not settle what we understand or how we act. We need to examine our interpretations, hear correction and consider what our choices mean for ourselves, others and the wider world. We may recognise some learning only afterwards. Maturity can include asking for help, changing a practice or making repair, while accepting that our understanding remains unfinished. It is not a rank that makes one person's human worth greater than another's.

Strong emotion does not put someone outside maturity. Reflection can come alongside feeling, or later; the person deserves respect throughout.
