How is this message trying to shape my judgment?

Persuasion can use accurate facts selectively as well as false claims. We can ask what a message wants us to feel, believe or do, whose interests it serves and what relevant context is absent. Recognising influence does not require guessing hidden intentions. Our own loyalties deserve the same scrutiny as messages from people we oppose.
