Human worth and equality are related but not identical. People differ in talents, experiences, opportunities, responsibilities, perspectives, and abilities. Human worth does not mean everyone is the same. It means every person possesses inherent value and deserves consideration as a fellow human being. Through Istima, humanity continues learning how to balance individuality, diversity, freedom, responsibility, and fairness. A mature society recognizes differences without allowing those differences to determine who matters and who does not.
